Craigs Kempo Karate Academy Monthly NewsletterStay informed on our latest news! |
NovemberThis is the 77th edition and 11th issue this year of the Dojo’s newsletter. Well gang we finally reset the clocks and I don’t know about all of you. But I’m still trying to get use to this extra hour and this warm weather. I have a lot to talk about this month so on to the news: We held our Kick-A-Thon for the New England Center for Homeless Veterans in October and raised $10,174.34. This is an unbelievable amount of money, this is the largest independent fundraising effort this year for them. I want to say thank you to all the students, family, and friends who helped make this happen. I want to send a special thank you to all the kick counters who counted and held those pads. They got kicked thousands of times but got the job done. Also thank you to Ron Hurly for donating his time and providing the music. I want to say thanks to my mom who donated the t-shirts. And most of all to my beautiful wife Anita (aka Mrs. Sensei) who’s endless work and effort made it all come together. Thanks Honey from all of us! We have put up a video of the Kick-A-Thon on our website. So go up and check it out. Thanks to Maureen (Leah’s Mom) for putting the video together for us. The annual Halloween Party was a awesome. Seeing all the different costumes was a good time. We had about 45 kids plus parents here playing games and contests. Ado and Angelique won the costume contest as The Obama's. Our Demo team and Tournament team competed in the fall World Martial Arts Federations tournament. The teams battled hard and brought home some trophies. They represented us in a very positive manner and I am proud to be their Sensei. Speaking of the teams: We are looking for newmembers to join both teams. If you are interested please see me. The weapons class has been moved to Monday @ 4pm and we have room for new students. If you are a Purple Belt or above and want to join please see me. We are holding a karate camp the day after Thanksgiving. We have a few slots left if you want to attend. This is a day full of karate games. We will be closed Wednesday the 11th for Veterans days. It is that time of year again. Our annual Toys for Tots toy drive is starting soon. The deadline for all toys to be in is early this year, Dec 11th. So if we start now we can beat last year total of 5 boxes. Sensei Craig
