Monthly NewsletterMayThis is the 83rd edition and 5th issue this year of the Dojo’s newsletter. Ok April was not a very dry month, but we did get a few really nice days. May is here and the weather is starting to turn warm and sunny. I love this time of year. We held a picture day last month and it was a big success. I am looking forward to seeing every ones pictures soon. They should be here by mid month. We held a Karate camp over the vacation and the students had a blast. The summer camp schedule is already out, sign up now to get your spot. The annual spring World Martial Arts Federation tournament is on the 23rd of this month, 9 am at the Reggie Lewis Arena in Boston. We have ten students competing this time. So I am inviting the whole Academy to come on down and watch. See me or Anita for the details. We are holding a pizza/game/ movie night this month on the 15th. These nights are a blast so reserve your spot. This night is open to all students, family, and friends. We are holding a BAAP (Bully Awareness and Prevention Program) training day this week end Saturday the 8th. There are no regular classes this day. The program will run twice. First one runs 9-11 and the second runs 11:30-1:30PM. Please see Anita for the details and to let us know you are coming. This program is open to family and students only. Training Notes This month we will be working on getting students prepared for the up coming test in June. It is that time of year again when we conduct Black Belt testing. We have 5 students preparing to test for the Shodan rank (Black Belt 1st degree) in June. I want to wish Andrew S., Alexan C, Sam C., Tina T., and Amin T. the best of luck. We are stripe testing the first and last week of this month. Please see any Sensei about questions on your material. We are now into the summer uniform. Short sleeves are now the only shirt that can be worn. As always a student may wear their GI top if they choose. NO LONG SLEEVE SHIRTS. We will be concentrating on forms and fighting this month in all classes to help prepare our students for the up coming tournament and belt tests. All students should check their gear for rips and fit. I have noticed many students that need replacement gear. If you need new gear please see me to order it. Only gear that is approved by me is allowed in the dojo. If you have any questions please see me. We are still working on the down stairs. All scheduled privates will be taught, but I ask that you pardon our appearance during the process. Strength and Honor Sensei Craig
