MayThis is the 71st edition and 5th issue this year of the Dojo’s newsletter. May is here and so is spring. The weather has changed and is getting warmer. The sox are on a role along with the Celtic’s , and Bruins. I love living in Boston it is a great sports town. Now on to the news. The big news right now is the Swine Flu and the near pandemic environment that the world is in now. There have been a couple of confirmed cases in Massachusetts and the health officials are testing more patients who are showing symptoms of the virus. This strain of Flu has many of the same symptoms of the regular seasonal flu and is spread the same way. So in order to keep down the possible exposure of this flu to our dojo community , I am asking every student and family member not to come to the dojo if you have any of the following symptoms: fever, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, cough, sore throat, runny nose or any other flu like symptoms. It is better to be safe than sorry. Also I want to let every member of the dojo know that I am keeping a very close eye on the recommendations of the Mass D.O.E. (Department of Education) and other health organizations with regards to preventive measures we can take to help stop the spread of this virus. The one thing that I am asking every student to do is wash there hands before they come into the dojo (hand sanitizer is a good alternative if you can’t wash your hands with soap and water). Now on to the rest of the news for the month. We are holding a Glo-chuk pizza night this month. Glo-chuks are nunchakus that have glow lights that you put into each handle and at the end of the night they are yours to take home. This event is tons of fun, see the flyer for the details. I want to wish all of the mom’s in the dojo a very Happy Mothers Day. We will be closed for the Memorial Day week end. See the calendar for the dates. We have the Annual spring World Material Arts Federations tournament at the Reggie Lewis Arena on May 17th. Our Tournament team is training hard for it and I want to wish them the best of luck. If you have never been to a tournament this is a great one to watch. See Anita for the details. I want to let every one know that we have the Summer Karate camp schedule done and if you want to attend see Anita for the details. I have had a few inquiries about the next test date. The next test is on June 9th and the belt ceremony will be held on the 14th of June. This test and ceremony will be a big one with several students testing for their Black Belts. The test list will be posted at the end of the month. If you have any questions see me. We have some additions coming to our website. So check it out and sign up for our e-news letter. Sensei Craig |
