MarchThis is the 69th edition and 3rd issue this year of the Dojo’s newsletter. March is here and the weather is starting to warm up a little. I can’t wait for the warm spring air. Now on to the news. February was a good month for the dojo. The valentines day pizza movie night was a blast. We had a full house and fun was had by all. We also ran a karate camp this month and I want to thank Sensei Jerimie for running the camp and ensuring that all the kids had a great time. I unfortunately had a bad stomach virus and was sick for a week. Which reminds me, if you are sick please stay home. March is a very special month for us. First we are holding a dojo sleep over on the 21st. The sleep overs are always fun. Playing games, eating pizza, watching movies, and staying up late are standard. Sign up soon space is limited. We are also holding a Black Belt Pre-test. This is a very important time in a martial arts students training as well as the Sensei’s. We have several students preparing for their Black Belt test and the pre-test is an important tool used to evaluate there skills and get them prepared for there test. I wish Jackie, Cody, and Enrico the best of luck. We are conducting a Belt test on the 22nd of this month and the test list will be posted on the 7th. This is the last call for any student that wants to compete in the upcoming Spring tournament. The tournament team practices on Wednesdays at 4 pm and is open to any student yellow belt or above. For more information please see any of the March is always a special time for us here at the Dojo. This March the Dojo will be 6 years old and growing. Every year we have an Anniversary Dinner that we cater for the students and family's of the Dojo. This year is no different. The 6th Annual Dojo Anniversary Dinner will be held on Sunday the 29th at 4 pm. This dinner is always packed and loads of fun for everyone that attends. This year we are having Gerries Italian Kitchen cater and space is limited to the first 80 people who reserve seats. Don’t miss this one. A reminder to all students with gear bags. You need to label or mark all of your equipment with your name. All the gear looks the same and the only way to know who’s is who’s is by having it marked. Also please at the end of class make sure that you have taken your gear. We have had several bags left at the dojo and many instances of students taking some one else’s gear home. All Students rank Purple Belt and above must wear their complete Gi (top, t-shirt, pants) to class effective immediately. All male students must also wear groin protection (cup) to every class. We are adding ground fighting to the training schedule and a full gi is required for the lessons. This does not apply or the Lil Dragons or the Tiger Classes. With the weather changing and the spring sports starting. I want to remind everyone to leave time in your schedules for practicing Kempo and coming to classes. |
